De-addiction therapy with disulfiram
Disulfiram is a substance present in the Esperal drug used to treat alcoholism. It is an effective way of overcoming alcoholism, since the disulfiram in connection with alcohol causes serious physical ailments, e.g., vomiting, palpitations, nausea, hot flashes, and sweating. The drug applied under the skin is a special substance around the neck, shoulders or buttocks, and its dose is determined by a physician after a thorough interview with the patient about the patient’s health.
Detoxification of the body via a drip is done to minimize the risk of complications and the occurrence of ailments that may occur especially in the early period after discontinuation of using drugs. A carefully selected mix of medicines aims to reduce the mental and physical discomfort, but it also contains supplements with electrolytes and vitamins, which translates into the better physical well-being of the patient. The drip also contains medicines that reduce the symptoms of withdrawal syndrome, analgesics, anti-emetics, hypnotics, anti-epileptics, and they can also sometimes reduce blood pressure.
In our clinic, we conduct a comprehensive examination of the patient’s health. The purpose of the check-up is to detect and diagnose any form of medical condition but also to check the state of basic indicators, such as blood pressure, pulse, blood tests, ECGs, etc. In the case of addiction treatment, the examination of the health status of the patient is extremely important, because the very fact of withdrawing stimulants can cause a strong impact on the body as indicated by the parameters such as blood pressure or heart rate.
