Our Dental implants in Reading are long-term solutions for missing teeth, providing a safe, durable, and reliable way to restore your health and smile. These implants are titanium posts that replace the root of a missing tooth. Placed in the jawbone, they integrate fully with the bone tissue and support crowns, bridges, or dentures to restore full mouth function.
A dental implant consists of two parts:
The screw acts as the root of the missing tooth, while the prosthetic tooth is crafted to resemble and function like the natural one. Your body quickly adapts to the implant, making eating and chewing feel entirely natural. Additionally, dental implants help maintain the structure of your face.
Our Implantologist will assess your oral health and determine whether an implant is the right option for you.
Dental implant surgery replaces your tooth roots with metal, screw-like posts and then replaces your missing teeth with artificial ones. These new teeth look natural and function the same as real teeth would. The zirconium in the implants fuses with your jawbone, ensuring that they won’t slip or damage bone as a fixed bridge might.
The way in which the surgery is performed varies depending on both the type of implant and the condition of your jawbone. Dental implant surgeries are often quite complex, so it’s always best to leave them to a specially-trained dental implantologist. Here at Medicare, our implantologist is also oral surgeon, meaning they’re highly qualified to carry out this specific procedure.
Most general dentists provide services such as gum care, dental fillings, root canals, veneers, bridges, and crowns. They may also make suggestions for preventing common dental problems. While a general dentist may be able to perform simple tooth extractions, more complex surgeries are usually outside of their area of expertise.
Patients usually visit an oral surgeon when the problem is more serious than a general dentist can handle. Oral surgeons have had special training to treat conditions that involve the face, mouth, and jaw. Examples of what they do are complex tooth extractions (including wisdom teeth), soft tissue biopsies, tumour removal, surgery to improve how the jaws line up, repairing damage to soft tissues, or placing implants.
A guide to what you can expect during your treatment at Medicare Implant Clinic in Reading.
In our first meeting, our implantologist will assess the best site for your implant. This involves examining your teeth and jawbone in detail, as well as any opposing teeth in your other jaw. He will also want to know what you hope to gain from the procedure so that he can properly plan the treatment. Whether you need a single tooth or multiple implants, each patient’s case is different and must be treated accordingly.
To get a more comprehensive understanding of the bone surrounding the implant site, as well as the positioning of other crucial structures, our implantologist will refer you for an X-ray. They will then go over all details with you in your treatment plan that they have prepared, which outlines the advantages and disadvantages of implants vs alternative treatments should you decide against implants.
This consultation usually occurs approximately one week before the implant is placed. Dr Karolina will go over the step-by-step process, associated risks and necessary pre and post-operative instructions with you. You have the option of having this conversation at the clinic or via a telephone call.
Our team will administer the treatment in our implant clinic. However, if during the appointment he discovers that he needs to slightly change the plan, for example, if the bone is not quite wide enough, he will stop and explain what his next steps are.
After your appointment, the doctor will give you a call to see how you’re recovering and answer any questions you have.
This usually happens around a week or ten days after the implant is placed, depending on its location.
The success of your treatment relies on the implant fusing with your bone. This process can take anywhere from 2 to 6 months, and our implantologist will have told you what to expect in the treatment plan.
For a single implant, there are two appointments: one to take impressions, and once the crown is ready, another appointment to fit it. If you’re worried about having a gap between your teeth during this process, don’t be! The doctor will discuss temporary options with you so that the gap cannot be seen.
The doctor suggests that to give your implants the best chance of lasting a long time, you should see the hygienist regularly for cleanings. Patients who take care of their gums and visit the hygienist on a regular basis can enjoy their implants for an extended amount of time.
Dental implants offer numerous benefits, including improved bite strength, comfort, and the ability to eat a variety of foods without worry. They can replace one or several teeth and are ideal for denture stabilization.
At Medicare Clinic Dental Care, we ensure your dentures are as comfortable and natural as possible. Denture stabilization addresses issues with unstable dentures, improving your quality of life and comfort.
Dental implants provide lifelong results, allowing you to eat, drink, speak, and smile confidently, while missing teeth or uncomfortable dentures can affect your confidence and comfort. Prosthetic bridges do not need teeth for stabilization. They can also be anchored in the jaw with prosthetic implants, even when there is no tooth in the dental arch.
Contrary to prostheses screwed to implants, a porcelain bridge cannot be placed on recently implanted implants due to the material it is made of. However, we assure you that during this period when the implants integrate with the bone to which they are attached, a temporary prosthesis is placed on the patient.
A porcelain bridge’s most significant advantage on implants is its durability because it can serve up to several years!
We offer dentures permanently screwed on 4 or 6 implants.
Treatment includes both implants and prostheses.
Implants are currently the best option to fill in a patient’s natural missing teeth. Their durability, aesthetic functions and body safety are among the most important advantages.
The complexity of this type of surgery depends on various factors, and one of the most important is the quality of the bone tissue at the site of the implant.
The implantologist first assesses the bone condition of a patient planning implantological treatment.
Suppose there are deficiencies caused by external factors, e.g. a breakout or an extraction performed earlier, using modern methods. In that case, it is possible to regenerate the bone tissue using the so-called Biomaterials.
The entire process, also known as guided bone regeneration or bone augmentation, enables the implantation of implants in patients with bone loss constraints.
