A history of success. Expert fertility treatment in Reading and expert care are available to all women.
This was the slogan of the Polish ‘Nasz Bocian’ (Our Stork) Association a few years ago when it ran a campaign to support couples struggling with unwanted childlessness. There is no term that could more accurately reflect the emotions accompanying infertility.
If you are facing a similar problem, we are here to help you. Dr Ewa Goncikowska, who specialises in gynaecology and reproductive medicine, has been working with couples for many years, helping them to realise their greatest dream. Combining professionalism with sensitivity and tenderness, she offers patients the highest quality medical care based not only on medical evidence (evidence-based medicine), but also on empathy and understanding.
– if you have been trying to get pregnant for more than 12 months and have not managed to get pregnant despite regular intercourse (2 – 3 times a week) without using methods that prevent or hinder pregnancy
– after 6 months, if you are over 35 years of age
– if you know that your fertility may be impaired (e.g. you have irregular menstrual cycles or endometriosis)
– if you have a history of abdominal surgery or pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) – this can lead to impaired function of the fallopian tubes
– if you have a history (including as a child) of cancer treatment, chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy
– if your partner has undergone testicular inflammation or trauma/surgery in the genital and genitourinary area
Infertility is a specific disease because it always affects two people. That is why couples are invited to an infertility consultation: both partners are equally important in the process of diagnosis and possible treatment.
Before the first consultation, it is advisable to have a semen test with your partner and to take all the results of the tests performed so far, if any have been ordered by your GP, for example.
Every woman planning a pregnancy should take folic acid at a dose of 400 microgrammes and vitamin D at a dose of 10 microgrammes a day. It is recommended to start taking these vitamins at least four weeks before the planned pregnancy.
